I Saved A Life...A Small One...But A Life.

I was driving "home" to Geneva's to go to bed.  I turned onto the street where she lives & there was a bird in the middle of the other lane.  As I passed it I noticed it was alive.  By the time I stopped, a truck coming the other way drove over it (didn't hit it), so I backed up.   It was still alive.  Not moving much, but alive.  So, I picked it up.  It didn't fight me.  I put it in the trunk & drove to Geneva's.   I put it on the ground outisde.  After about 20 minutes it got up & flew off.   Guess it was just stunned.  It might have been okay if I'd have left it on the road...but maybe not

No, you did the right thing. I did something similar when I came across a ring-tailed possum a couple of years ago. It (and your bird) would have been flattened otherwise.
